Our Mission

Originating in Japan in 1981 as a retail gift store, Lazy Susan’s slogan was “create your own lifestyle.”  The objective was simple— to offer refreshing contemporary home, executive and personal accessories that were stylish, sleek and serene in design.  The name Lazy Susan was derived from a popular fixture in many American households in the 1960s— a large rotating tray set on the dining table.  This rotating tray was meant to simplify life, allowing what one needed to come gently to the hand.

Over a twenty year period, Lazy Susan developed and manufactured its own exclusive product line that was originally only available in their store throughout Asia .  In response to a growing demand to share its design sensibilities, Lazy Susan debuted its first collection, available to retailers, in the United States in 2001.  The popularity of the elegant, serene product design of Lazy Susan reflects the trend in interior design to achieve tranquil harmony in one’s space.
